It's been a while, but I'm back :)

Well, after getting quite busy with my day job and with the move to Vancouver meaning I don't have quite the same number of contacts/customers for my books, I decided to give up the Usborne books business... for about a year.  Then in about June of this year, I decided I couldn't live without the discount ;-)  So I am back at it.  I am hoping this year to do a few more home shows.  I know a few more people in the community and my day job (fingers crossed) will hopefully keep me more in the Lower Mainland than it did last year.

So I've set up a newsletter - email me (info below) and let me know if you'd like to be on the distribution list, and I've got both my online shopping site back up and running and my Facebook page!

What's new in Usborne?  Depends on how you look at it?  All and nothing.  They still offer great quality children's books in English and French.  The Spanish offerings aren't available at the moment though as there was a break-in at the warehouse and many of the "on-shelf" selections, which unfortunately included all the Spanish books, had to be destroyed due to damage on them.  But the warehouse is back up and running and   the English and much of the French inventory has been replaced. It was closed for about a month or so in September!  And Usborne continues to come out with new titles each month - all of which you can find on my online shopping site (See the Books --> Latest Titles tab).

I managed to get out to Fall Training this year, which was good.  I still want to go to a couple of home shows put on by other consultants to see some presentations and see what might work for me in my own.
Aloha speaking to us about how understanding our personal strengths and playing to them helps us share these wonderful books with others :)

Some of the New Titles for September 2012

What are some of my personal favourites right now?  Well... my son is so getting Noisy Bottoms for Christmas... guaranteed giggle-fest for a 3 or 4 year old boy ;-)  I've also been quite into the Art Ideas books lately.  I ended up giving the "Complete Book of Art Ideas" to both my son's Strong Start coordinator and to his Preschool this year - there are so many great projects in there for all ages!  I even had a couple of adults buy this particular book a couple of years ago as it outlines all sorts of painting and drawing techniques and it was apparently perfect for a course they were taking!  I'm also quite sold on the Cards to Colour and Customise - birthday cards, thank you cards, etc that your child can colour in. It's a great way to encourage your child to be creative and polite!  And Grandma and Grandpa's, Aunties and Uncles now get personalized thank you cards!  Not quite "home-made" but still a great way to definitely make it from your child to the special people in their lives.

That's about it for now!

Interested in looking for deals online for (Usborne or other publisher's) books? Here are a couple of good sites:
1. Barnes & Noble: often have great deals on older editions of books
2. AbeBooks: a collaboration of book sellers so you can often find that "hard-to-find" book here
3. Zulily: ships to Canada now :) They have some great deals on not only children's books, but also any number of children's clothes, toys, etc
